That 427 ended up in a trade with Thien. He wasn't able to use much of that rust bucket. Got my shipwreck Thermos stove up and running.

Are you going to try the electrolysis method of de-rusting on that one?

finally got off my duff and got some citric acid ordered. its first victim was my January 1928 Coleman quicklite 427.

not too filthy but sure can use a scrubbing!

shined up good! filled a 5 gallon bucket with hot tap water and soaked the ever loving rust outta the steel parts and brass in another container. the steel took a good 4 hours of soaking with some 0000 steel wool every hour or so.

the fount was rubbed out with some mothers and 0000 steel wool a while back, and i feel it wont come out anymore. which is fine! because it has 80+ years of beauty marks all over.

all it needs now is a new mica globe from OCP to finish it up.... but for now my cracked testing globe shal do.

here is the pair of slants i picked up, both worked but the 228 ran dim and poor....so it currently is victim number two in my acid bath.

thanks sean!

the 228 slant has been dropped on its head i think.... the collar has bent the fount in some. not sure how i want to go about fixing it yet.

and the 220 slant some hack spray painted the cage and bail black. will see how that cleans up.

1929 228 Coleman Slant on the left, and a 1928 Coleman 427 on the right.

finished the 427 a few days ago, and the slant last night.
