I bought a 93 f350 4x4 factory dump truck.78599 org miles.I bought the truck drove it home 30 mile trip no problems. Backed it in the shop fixed lights and tail gate. No problems! Fixed the muffler and tail pipe and thats when the problems started. I let it set infront of the shop for about a hour when I started it I notice white smoke. I checked the oil and yep white gray milky oil. Blowed head gasket ? I hope. AS the the truck runs the white smoke clears and gives way to blue smoke. OIL? The truck has been sitting for about a year is it possible the vavel seals are dryed up? The motor runs like a singer! No pinging knocking nothing it sounds perfect. I thought I would pull the heads have them checked do a vavle job and replace the seals and hope for the best. I have never had a 460 so I was hoping someone could reasure me I'am going at it the right way or tell me what to do.
You may want to pull all of your spark plugs and then peform a cooling system pressure test. Then crank engine over, and see which cylinder spits coolant out.
It's important to pull the plugs, as if you do have a coolant leak into a cylinder, you don't want to hydrolock the motor when cranking it - that would make a bad situation even worse!
I pulled heads off of another motor I had dropping them off in the morrning to be rebuilt. When I get them back I'am pulling the motor in the truck apart to see what's wrong that way I have good heads if I need them.

That all well and good, but it's always a good idea to still do some diagnostics while the engine is still together.
Sometimes when you tear it down, it isn't obvious as to where the leak is or was. The more information you have ahead of time, the more likely you are to be certain to find the problem, or to at least know what area to zero in on. If it's a crack, those can be a bit tricky to find.
Its also possible that the previous owner did not let the engine warm up properly before driving. With these big blocks if you put them under work before they reach operating temp, they ten to pull moisture from the air through the oil breather giving it the milky look. However, as you let it idle for a long time, that should not be the issue. The intake gasket is easy to replace and cheap. You can get an entire top end gasket kit for less than $100.00 Hope you figure it out. Watch the Throttle Body Position sensor and idle speed sensor. On my 89' 460ci both went out at about 100kmiles, cost $500 to fix, but that was almost 10 years ago
