loss of fuel at upper rpms?

Well this is my first time posting

Heres my problem I bought my ts 6pos tuner and exhaust and installed them both 2weeks ago. I thought everything was great then I noticed up top around 2500-3000 it feels like its not getting enough fuel. I turned it to my smoke setting and WOW it was fast no hesitations at all.
I did a buzz test and every injector came back fine. changed the fuel filter still no change. I replaced the lift pump back in Oct.I did a fuel pressure test and the needle was jumping from 40psi to 90psi at idle. I am so lost could it be a bad fpr? I know the previous owner did the fpr mod with the bb.

When I ran the scanner I got a code p0196 but I am going to double check to make sure my truck was at operating temp to be safe. Forgot to mention I got my chip from KT performance

Thanks for any help
Joe

Welcome to the site Joe. That is a heck of a jump, usually they may jump 20 or so psi, not 50. Maybe pull that spring and check it out along with the bb mod. Try it without the bb for curiosity.

Maybe you are running out of oil at higher rpms with the chip.

Give us some more info on your truck too.

Thanks! I removed the bb and did the nut and screw trick and got it all adjusted to around 75psi at idle took it for a ride and it still does the same thing....I am wondering if maybe I have bad tunes? It runs bad in all tunes except the smoke tune. And of course stock.

If it runs bad in all tunes but a couple, I'd contact the chip company and talk to them. By bad, do you mean bad all the time or just at higher rpms?

Shift points are changed with the chip, don't worry about that. Mine is the same, in stock it shifts into OD at 43-45, in the 140 tune it shifts at 50.

See what they say and let us know. Good luck.

Well I replaced the eot sensor hopping that would fix it but it didn't. I noticed it runs fine in the tunes when its and not at operating temps I wasnt a fan of doing that...but I had to try.
I talked to kt performance and they say that it's basic tunes but he told me to send it back and he'll Reburn them. I really don't know what else to do or check.

If you had a scanner to read some live data, we could tell if your hpop was wasn't supplying enough oil, etc. Without that, I'm not sure what else to do. See if someone else has any ideas later on or tomorrow.

I'd say watch the ipr duty cycles and icp percentages when you're having issues at higher rpms, see if the hpop is keeping up in some of those tunes. I'd think you'd get a p1211 code if it wasn't though.. Still would like someone else to jump in if they have any other suggestions.
