Gas pedal play

Ive got some major play in my gas pedal which is getting annoying. It moves side to side and up and down a good bit. It didn't look like there was any kind of adjust but I thought I would check. I know the ranger guys stick zip ties under their pedals to get rid of the up and down play

Sounds like maybe the pivot point on the mounting bracket is worn.. I don't think there is an adjustment, so your best bet would be to hopefully find one in good shape at the salvage yard..

Or take a jar of Vaseline with you if you go to the dealership!!!!

I think that sounds like what's wrong with the side to side play but what about the up and down play?

Do you mean the whole pedal moves up and down, or it has to take up slack before it increases the throttle?

If it takes a lot of movement to apply throttle to the engine it "could" be a stretched cable, or a loose or a bent bracket on the engine end, but if the holes are worn on the mounting bracket it will move the pivot point and cause less travel..

You just need to work it and look for any lost motion.. inside and outside..

I meant it has to take up some slack.
