I wish I had a lift that's the way I would do it but I don't have one. So I'll figure it out. I just wanted to be sure the fenders could hold the weight of the font clip and the extra weight won't bent the roof when I lift it off. As for the speed sensor I'll figure something out. Thanks for the help.

What ever you do, don't lift with anything rigid like chain or cable, it will bend the cab roof line. A lift strap is pretty much the only option. However, I have heard of using 4x4's to lift by, but seems a little risky to me, but there are ways to reduce possibility of slippage. Definitely have the doors off though, as they will likely be damaged if left in place.

No I wasn't gonna use chain or cable. I was going to do the 4x4's with spacersto keep them spaced. And I was wondering about the doors but you answered that. Or I can just use like a tow strap?

Tow straps aren't rated for vertical lifting. If you could get an actual lift strap, you could possibly use the looped ends to go around the 4x4, then lift at the center.I have used regular lift straps but not the 4x4, but also have not tried putting the cab on anything... The clip was off as well. Seems most times, I tear them down, rather than go back together.

are the 93 clutch pedals the same as the 95? I found a 93 clutch pedal on ebay but not sure it will fit my 95 cab.

I am wanting to switch cabs from a 1988 F350 gas to a 1986 diesel F350 frame. Is this much trouble?

Hey, thanks for all the info here - I have a further question: my truck is a '86 F250 with 6.9 diesel, and I've found a cab from a '89 F350 7.3 diesel. What's my best plan regarding the wiring harness? The '89 cab has been cut up fairly badly and I'm wondering if it's best to try and use my old dash and harness? thanks again !

The firewall holes for the wires and components will line up best with those.

As for the DMV issue, it varies from state to state. California goes by the frame vin for instance. Make sure what you can and cannot do in your state. Very wise idea.

Does anyone know why the 1980-83 cab is not as good of a match to an 84 to 86?

I bought a 1985 that had a better cab included. The cab is from a 1980.
Thanks in advance for any info.

The early years were set up for a mechanical clutch, later years had hydraulic clutches. It's not an insurmountable problem but the holes in the firewall are different between the two, and none of this should matter if everything uses automatic transmissions.

Thank you for that info.
They were both manuals, the frame is 4wd, the donor cab is manual and from a 2wd so I will have to deal with that.
I have the tools so that part is not too bad.
Are the clutch pedals different?

Are the clutch pedals different.... um, yes, as I recall, you will need a pedal assembly specific to a hydraulic clutch but I can't remember the exact details as to why or how they're different... IIRC the actuator arm - the piece extending off the pedal assembly - is different between the mechanical vs hydraulic clutches and that piece can be changed individually... don't remember what other specific differences there might be, though. It's been talked about in the main 80-86 forum (you are in the FAQs sub-forum right now), might go searching through the archives in there.
