^^^^^ WTS light has NOTHING to do with the GPR. If the WTS light is out, it's a PCM issue. GPR failure has to be tested with a meter.
It hasn't been mentioned here, but in the "not my truck" thread that's related to this one, it's established that the OP is getting a WTS light, and some tach movement.
Yeah sorry I read up on both treads. I figured out that it isn't the gpr. Sorry about that. I should read before I post.
I shorted mine ( another story , best left un re visited ) (small mushroom cloud in the valley) ,It popped a fuse , made the relay click(insistently) & damaged the IDM
I touched a probe on the 12 v side to ground momentarily ...(sigh)
Ouch. My experience with a short was behind the 42 pin connector and it would make the truck die at freeway speeds. Coast to the side, pop the hood and let it cool for 15 minutes and I could restart every time. Bumps never made it stall and I drove from Oklahoma to North Texas along the service roads with no stall, but the couple if times I tried to get on the freeway, it always died within 5 min. Still can't explain it, but a chaffed wire was the culprit. I've read of shorted IPR and ICP wires causing a stall without taking out the IDM, but to be safe, I'll keep my meter away from those wires.
IPR was stuck , My buddy pulled the chip with the key on ..(New PCM & New chip time).. during testing , the insulation on the wiring to the IPR was gone(fuel) .. Touched the wire to ground (oops)
My very first no start .. CEL was on (faintly key on) & no WTS ,,, needed a PCM ...
