Wiring Upgrade and Ccomponents?
I was think about up grading my wiring,just wondering if I go to an alternator over the stock generator is ther anything special I need to do to other components start, dist.,heater,and etc. I plan on buying new gauges just wondering about anything I should not over look..Also can you recommend an alternator that would work in my F100 292 Y-Block

I used a GM single wire alternator. It should have no impact of the components you mention. The truck is already 12 volt. I used a EZWire system to rewire my truck. The wires are all labeled and it is easy to follow if you have at least a basic understanding of wiring. I'm also using the one wire GM alternator. Not an expert or anything, but they're inexpensive and plentiful. You can get one at O'Reillys for $60 or $70 depending, and if it ever fails on you it will be easy to replace no matter where on the road you might be.
I didn't use the EZ wire kit, but peeps like their stuff for sure. I just bought an aftermarket Panel from Painless..And I ran my own multi colored wires and such.
Not sure what year truck you have, but dual headlight fridges need a specific headlight relay or benefit from it anyway, and its available at NAPA and such. I forget the exact part number but have it in my records somewhere, so if you need that let me know and I'll look it up.

Oh i looked around and see that you have a 1960, so you'll need the relay for the four headlights..Unless you can reuse the OEM one. I never had the OEM relay so don't know anything about that.
Here's the aftermarket relay:

I think it cost about $25?, maybe less, and it comes with easy to follow wiring instructions.
By using this relay or the OEM unit you can have two headlights working on dim and four headlights on bright,,,and with this setup your two dim lights will be operating at low beams when not being used as bright lights, but will switch to their bright light output along with the other two remaining of your four headlight system when you go to brights.
Even though this is available..I had to look pretty hard to find it in that parts places didn't have it crossreferenced to a fridge etc. so when you asked they couldn't help.
I phoned Painless wiring..i think it was..and they told me about it.
