Transmission Issue - Seems To Stem From Something Else
1994.5 F250 Auto 3-Speed 5.0
A couple months ago I took off from a stop light pretty quickly and all of a sudden I hit rev limit, my sped & tach guages quit working and my transmission stopped shifting correctly.
I noticed my fuse was blown for the speed control sensor, guages, abs and airbag. Replaced this but every time it kept blowing when I started the ignition. Ended up disconnecting the airbag control module under the dash and the fuse quit blowing.
Everything worked great for about a week, but then it started having super low engine power, as if it were bogging down, and also the transmission would shift into 2nd hard, long and drawn out... and have to shift into neutral (or let off the gas until I hit idle) and back into gear to get into 3rd.
It's been doing this ever since. Speed control sensor has been replaced, fuse is good, transmission has been flushed, ran sea foam through the intake system. Nothing is working.
Was told it may be the computer. Could it be? Or what else could be causing this? I drive this truck for work and it's killing my gas mileage not to mention it can't be very good for my transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you do have a 3 speed auto then it will be a C6. None of the electrical issues you mention will affect the trans in any way. Check that the vacuum pipe that goes from the engine to the trans is good, in particular the rubber pipes at each end.
Also make sure that the kickdown rod is connected at both ends.

A buddy disconnected the battery, disconnected the pcm and cleaned the contacts and reconnected both. He said when he disconnected the battery he reset the system by holding the connectors together for a few seconds. It's been shifting beautifully since, but I've been doing grandma driving. Hopefully it lasts a little longer than a day this time.

Are you sure you have a 3 speed? Or is it really the E4OD 4 speed, with a non working OD?
Easy question to know witch tranny you have.
What does your gear selector say?
P R N D 2 1 - C6 3 speed (vacuum only, no electronics in this trans)
P R N (D) 2 1 - E4OD, fully electronic trans, with OD cancel button on column shifter
P R N (D) D 1 - AOD, TV cable operated
Or if the tranny has been swaped, get under it, and count the pan bolts.
C6 - 17 bolts
E4OD - 20 bolts
AOD - 14 bolts

Sorry John, been away for a while. It IS the E4OD.
Found the cpu to be full of water from a windshield leak (which caused a completely different dilemma wasting my time with fuel pumps, filters, etc) and had that taken care of but the trans issue still persists.
