Well, I need to update this thread.
I honestly hated the lift and the way the Excursion handled with it on. The front always felt really spongy and soft. Way too soft for a tow rig IMHO. And, I've exhausted ways to get it to handle correctly when towing and even not towing.
I added the Hellwig rear swaybar to the rear as well as installed an RAS to it too. These things helped, but didn't come close to curing anything. The last straw was a trip I took to Custer, SD in October pulling the 30ft travel trailer. We came home in some nasty crosswinds through Wyoming. In some sections I couldn't do more than 40mph because it was pushing me all over the road. The excursion was just so darty on the road that I swore I would never tow with it again until I could get it fixed.
The steering at the time was tight. I have done ball joints, and all the tie rod ends have been replaced or have no play at all. I decided to replace the steering box, which made little to no difference.
So, I then told myself that the lift needed to go. I have always felt it was too soft up front. So, I ordered up some X code/B Code springs. Pulled the tires/wheels off and the lift and sold it to a local guy out here. I used his stock wheels and installed some 285/75r16 Hankook dynapro A/Ts.
The results are a much better handling vehicle. I always felt like the trailer was driving the front of my Excursion all over the road. Well, now I feel like I can tow with it again if needed. Yes, it doesn't look as "cool", but at least my wife is safe on the road in it now. And, I still haven't installed the RAS on the rear yet, which will help even more.
FWIW, the X/B coded springs are MUCH better. It does not feel too stiff at all, and IMHO rides much better than I expected from running DRW rear springs and heavier F350 spring up front. Its a much needed upgrade for these rigs. The 285s clear easily.
All that said, I also ended up picking up a new project for my longer trips when towing anyway. Especially for Wyoming trips where its ALWAYS windy. Needless to say, my TT will NOT be pushing me all over the road anymore!
It has been a MAJOR project so far, but should prove to be one hell of a tow pig in the end.

I have the X and modded B codes, and recently added the B code overload spring to the X codes up front for another 1" of lift for a total of about 4", even with a worn out steering box I can tow my boat no problem, Im running a 305 on stock 16"s and have room for a 315, If you want a stable X that still has the "cool" factor, thats an option you could try out.
