Question Blue prints?

Does anyone know if blue prints, or scematics or what ever you want to call them, are available for these old trucks? What about other vehicles? Is there a web site somewhere that has them?

I did see a banner advertising something like it on this site, but when I clicked on it the page I went to didn't have anything about it.

Lightbulb Blue prints?

I know my shop manual has schematics for my 51 F1. When I get home I will take a look. I believe it covers 50 as well. I can scan it and email you a copy if you like. Shoot me an email at joe@thebloods.net and I will send you them if I have them.

I guess I should clarify after doing a search for schematics and finding a lot of stuff about wiring.

What I would like to find is scale drawings with dimensions of the trucks and the frames and such.

The main reason is that I would like to look at drawings of potential donors. You hear about a car that someone is selling that has a big engine and you wonder what other parts you could use like suspension and steering. It would be nice to know how wide the frame rails are and how parts might fit next to others without physically doing it.

I will still check when I get home, but I am not sure if my book has what you are looking for. An idea maybe a body shop. I know alot of frame machines have specs like this in manuals. Dunno if they would have it going back that far, but its an idea.

The 48-56 Truck Parts Catalog has many detailed assembly drawings but no dimensions. Good for putting one back together but not for what you need.
You might check the Ford Museum in Dearborn, they make all kinds of stuff available to interested parties.

Joe,

I don't know if you'll find that info in print.... I think your best bet is to find some very obliging owner of a 51 and ask him to do some dimensional drawings or a list of dimensions... I'm doing a '53 and I know they are different...

basic stuff like frame width, distances to crossmembers, etc should be easy for someone doing a frame off and has a bare frame sitting there...

wheelbase and track can be found in the shop manuals.. the rest can be gathered on this forum if you ask specific questions... these guys will go out of their way to help any way they can...

john

BTW now that I think about it... that would be an excellent project... someone with each model could put a sketch together of each model with dimensions/ thicknesses, etc....sounds like something useful for all of us

Maybe we'll have to do what John Niolon suggested. My problem is that I don't have the body off of the frame yet so it means a bit more time on the creeper than the weather here in Wyoming is currently allowing. (We had a very wet, heavy snow yesterday, now it's just cold and wet.)

Before going through all of that though, I'll take Carl's advice and see if I can't get it straight from FoMoCo. Thanks.

Blue prints?

There are manuals avertised on this site called "features " manuals. They are only $6.00 and I understand they have these measurements in them . I am looking for the same info and wanted to by one of these books but because I live in New Zealand they wont sell me one (say it is not worth their while. If you get one could you let me know if they do have all of these measurements.

Cheers

Dan

Blue prints?

Dan,

In your case (a 54 F100) I may be able to help wih some of what you want. Send your email address to me at and I'll send you some stuff.

J Gibbs,

Sorry, but the stuff I have (and it ain't much) pertains to the 53-56 series not the 48-52.

Later,

Correction -

Possibly bad news for Dan and good news for J Gibbs -

The frame schematic with measurements that I have is actually for the 48 to 51 models. However, Looking at it - it looks identical to my 54 frame.

Can anyone in here confirm/refute - the frame used from 48 through 56 on the F1 and F100 is identical.

Anyway - Dan and J Gibbs - send your email as mentioned above if you want me to send you a scanned copy.

Regards,

I don’t know if this would help, but…
A friend of mine owns a wrecking yard, and had quite a few of these frames (F1~F3) piled up. He wanted to get rid of them, so I can’t guarantee he still have them. If he does, and if anyone need/wants, I can go there, take measurements and pictures.
Just let me know, and I’ll borrow a camera to takes the pictures. My camera is sleeping with the fishes…
Accidents inside a boat usually results in something going underwater...

Regards,
Lobo
