GM bond holders got screwed during the bankruptcy. Pension funds lost money who had bought GM debt. I will NEVER buy another GM product...EVER! Ford made it without sucking off the taxpayers. Gives a whole new meaning to the name "Ford Tough!"

Sorry, I'll never own another Government Motors vehicle. GM should have had to go through bankruptcy like any other business that has horrible management at the helm.

I saw someone post a reply today something like this.
Show a chevy truck underwater, with a guy in the bed pouring the water out with a bucket. Have a Ford drive by and a caption saying,"You don't have to bail out a Ford."
There are a multiple threads on this issue. A good read if you want some good GM jokes.
Frankly, I think the commercial smacks of typical GM arrogance (both customers and the company itself) and it certainly hasn't converted me. It's funny, granted, but far too unreal to be credible. Ford WORKS to earn and keep customers, GM expects that people will just stick with them because their feces doesn't stink. And look how well that worked out at the end of the day.
Ever ask a GM owner why, as they claim, GM is better? They always cite reliability and make a statement along the lines of "Old FoMoCo trucks never have the original engine. Most Ferd owners start getting nervous after 100k" (my buddy actually said that today).
The engine comment is just false, nothing really to say. I usually expect at least 350,000 out of a Ford engine with no major work. The reliability comment is not borne out by fleet maintenance data, for 20 years Ford has the lowest fleet lifecycle cost. GM is a fraggin joke and anyone who thinks they make a decent product has a small... well, you know. Like the kid that ripped someone off on pirate4x4 and had a 24" lift on a 2wd. You know the type.

Ford should do a follow-up Apocalypse commercial..... where the Ford is at some tropical paradise and the chebby guys are running around the city/wasteland looking for fuel, lol!
After the bailout Chevy has absolutely nothing to brag about. Not that they had before hand but at least a little self respect. They don't even have that anymore.
Ford should do a commercial where they just drive down any random street with a dash camera. Then everyone can see how many of the "longest-lasting trucks on the road" are actually on the road.
Perhaps by "road" GM meant the aisles in the scrapyard?

I'm sure most of you are aware of Newt Gingrich's now-famous memo in which he made the point that it's very important to use the right terminology in any argument, because choice of words has a great meaning on the impression these arguments leave on people. For those who are unfamiliar, a page explaining it can be seen here:
We need to do the same. When looking at objective data on reliability, fleet costs, etc; GM is beat by a long shot, but these GM fanatics remain unmoved because in remaining GM devotees their mindset is on feelings more than on facts. We need to respond to this unfortunate reality by playing into it.
Many Americans, like myself, find that one of the biggest reasons to dislike "Chevy" trucks is not the trucks themselves, but the General Motors Corporation. Therefore, it is very important to use the term "GM" or "General Motors" rather than "Chevy" when disparaging GM products. If you rip on "Chevy", you're ripping on a brand that everyone, consciously and subconsciously, associates with the beloved American culture. As in, "...it's a Springsteen song, it's a high-school prom, it's a ride in a Chevrolet..." etc. However, if the term "GM" is used, it's harder for pro-GM folks to justify love for a terrible product made by one of the most evil organizations ever to exist on the continent. If I remember correctly, 56% of Americans in a recent Fox News poll claimed they disliked GM, whereas it would be fair to assume an overwhelming majority of Americans would not explicitly state that they dislike "Chevy". So, by using more meaningful terminology, we can make more of a difference in helping to stop the cancer of Chevrolet ownership.
There is no sarcasm or curtness intended in my post. I genuinely believe that GM one of the gravest threats faced by our society.
