The stock standard size was 6.70-15 in 1964. This size is no longer available. No problem, too small anyway. The next optional size in 1964 in15" was the 7.00-15. This is the size you want. It is bigger and beefier and approx 29" tall. It is still available at truck tire dealers, but you'll have to order them. If you want radial, the 7.00-15 is available in radial also. This 7.00-15 or 7.00r-15 is a truck tire or some call them trailer tires now, have a highway type tread pattern, not to be confused with the 225, 235 sizes car tire dealers always try to push on you. The metric size car tires are shorter and wider and don't look period correct on stock 1/2 ton pickup. Heres a link.Truck Tires - Wholesale Prices Sumitomo Tires SL717 7.00R15 TL BW HWY About white walls and mud+snow tires, these were extra cost options when these trucks were new. The dealer had a booklet from every tire manufacture of the sizes and types of tires that were available. THe photo of the red and white '64 F 100 with white walls was a press photo. Many publicity press photos and photos used in advertisements showed top of the line custom cabs with many extra cost items to make the truck look more appealing to more people. Most trucks sold were basic bare bones types or fleet type trucks, in other words black wall tires and standard cabs.

Here are my new tires I finally got a year ago from Miller Tire. I wanted to post a picture of it with the tires. I have tried to keep it as original as possible.
Thank You all for your advice!

Very cool period look with the narrow mud and snows on the back with highway treads on front. I remember many pickups sported this look back in the day.

The brand of the fronts are "Specialty Tires of America". The model is "STA Super Transport LT" and they are 7.00-15LT. I'm guessing that they are the tubeless version with a ply rating of C/6, part #LA223.

The rears are also "Specialty Tires of America" and the model is "STA Super Traxion" and also are 7.00-15LT. Guessing again that it is the tubeless version with a ply rating C/6, part #LB223.

All S.T.A. tires are USA made and good quality. Their website list all the info/details about their tires. Light Truck Tires Archives -

The tire and rims look great. I have 235/15 radials which is the most common 1/2 ton tire size but they look like chocolate donuts. Tall and skinny, and I love the mud+snow on the back. I need to head to the junk yard next day it does not rain and find a set of rims.

Hey Ki-Adi-Mundi, thanks for posting photos of your clean '64 custom cab. Are you aware your hubcaps are crushed inwards giving them a concave look, instead of the correct popped out convex look.

I purchased these from Miller Tire. I have been very happy with them. Yes the brand is Speciality Tires of America

Are my hub caps really incorrect for this year model truck? Do you mean these are bent the wrong way?

Correct hub caps, it just appears they have been aggressively installed with the heel of the hand a few times.
