Any Word on new power plant in the 2013?

Any hear whether something other than the same old 5.4 motor will finally be available in the 2013's? I'm SO tired of waiting

The only thing we know with any certainty is that the Navigator is getting the ecoboost, eventually. This was confirmed by Ford.

Otherwise, there is no official word on what exactly is going on with the Expedition. Ford has said that they want to seperate the drivetrains of Lincoln from Ford, so it's possible they might decide to use something other than the Ecoboost in the Expedition, like the 5.0L. On the other hand, the Ecoboost has been so wildly popular that Ford might just decide to stick with it.

Either way, I wouldn't expect any major changes to the Expedition until after the F150 gets redone in 2014. At best we're looking at different engines and maybe slight interior/exterior changes for another 2 years or so.

Yep, I was just wondering if any news had been leaked. I've been waiting to replace my 05 DD for 2 years now, the last thing i would want is to buy a new Expedition, then have the EB/5.0/6.2 motors available 6 months later. Sure am tied of waiting.

I was in my local dealer last Saturday and asked if the Expy would get the Eco Boost engine that was in the F150. The salesman I have dealt with for 10 years said the grumblings are that the Expy may go the way of the Excursion, because its too big to get good gas mileage. Go figure.

Hopefully Ford changes their thinking on this one.

The owner of my local dealer said the 2013 Expedition will have the EcoBoost as the only option.

Does that mean the EB will be the only available power plant, or that it will be an option to the standard 5.4? Thanks

My understanding is that the EB is the only available engine, the 5.4 will not be offered.

Yea, the 5.4L is on its way out. Eventually it will be dropped completely from every Ford model. If it gets any V8 option, it's going to be the 5.0L or 6.2L, with the 5.0L more likely.
