08 6.4
well.. I'm have an 05 5.4 fx4, and honestly I love the ford SD's however, I'm not a fan of the 5.4, anyways I"m looking into an '08 6.4 psd, and I found one but it's got 185,000 and thats a lot of miles for the year.. most likely it's mostly high way, and I know that for a diesel it's just been broken in, but is buying this truck a bad idea due to all of the miles? the dealer wants 21,000 I think for it.. seems reasonable, and the truck inside and out looks imaculate, any input would be appreciated... thanks

main thing is if you like it and want it go for it, jus check everything out on it before purchase, try and see if they have any proof of work done on the truck (which is something we should of done), we had both front calipers go, lower rad hose go within a month of getting the truck, so jus check everything as you never know how the previous owner treated it

You can determine Hwy versus Idle by dividing the Miles by the Hours. The higher the number the more likely it was Hwy driven, lower numbers represent higher idle hours.
Not sure about the price. I punched mine up on KBB with 25K miles and the worth was $32K. You can punch that truck up with options on KBB and get an idea if they are screwing you or not. Assuming you trust KBB's calculations.
If the truck was/is maintained properly, it should give you plenty of more miles. There have been numerous posts of these trucks in the high 200K range completely stock and 100K range with tuning. So the truck has allot of potential to get high miles. Have an oasis report pulled and verify all the TSB's have been taken care of to get a better idea of what to expect.

Thanks Shaun... I did most of that already, I did test drive it.. Truck is in good shape but the dealer lifted it a few inches and put wide 35's on it... It pulls bad to the right which is most likely just an alignment but the tires bein really wide they rub a lot... Trucks looks good and drives good for the most part, but he didn't want to make the numbers right.... So I walked... Think I'm going to go for a stock 08 I really want one... Just stil prices high... I really wish the 6.0 was a better motor... Hell I'd be in heaven if that were the case.. Thanks everybody

there is nothing wrong with a 6.0 jus find one thats been takin care of, do the essential mods to reassure you of any problems, ive owned my 6.0 longer then my dad has had his 6.4 and he has paid more out of pocket then i have cause of his having some problems.
now im not hating on the 6.4 i love how quite and smooth his sounds and runs, and i love that big ole front en lol, makes people move out of the way lol
also to me and my butt dyno(lol) the 6.0 jus feels to pull harder, all this is jus from my opinion

Well ya... And I understand that... I'm just trying to be smart about it is all... I am considering an 06 or 07 6.0 though... Just worries its going to be a pain to have.. And I wouldn't mind it so much but the parts are expensive even if indoc the work my self... Like the injectors... So I don't know we will see I guess..

I just bought a Lariat 6.4 super crew short bed 4x4 for 17.5 160k miles. I have the same slight doubts of a used vehicle, I took the to dealer and had them run codes, all came back clear. Then I drove from Ft. Worth to Okc. got 21 mpg at 60-65 mpg. Mine has a slight seep of motor oil coming from on top of bell house, but not pooling on top of motor any where. My real question is if Z Max, Motorkote, or Hot Shot Secret would maybe increase the legnth of my 6.4. I am not worried about a little oil seep honestly, but if your specifically NOT wanting a long bed, you will def. pay more for short beds.
