Liquid line '81 F100

300cid -6 with factory air. Need liquid line or its Ford part number. This is the vapor line from condenser to orfice tube. Manual shut-offs on compressor. Hose rebuilder can not repair it because he can't locate the ends anymore. I've done a lot of searching online, but no luck. Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks

Have you contacted NAPA or Advanced Auto by chance? I'm guessing most Ford dealers wouldn't have kept their info about that vintage a vehicle.

A shot in the dark is to cruise eBay Motors and just start looking at images of A/C parts. Someone there is bound to have a NOS part exactly like you need.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Since posting I've found some part number info: Ford #E4TZ19837B, Motorcraft #YF1214, #12279/24-12279.
Local Ford store searched their parts locator system but no 'hits'. This Ford locator system is not all that great, here anyway. Friend in Colorado also searched the Ford parts locator system and found one available in Houston! That is very odd, to me anyway.
The OE part in Houston is $86+Tax+shipping=$100 (+/-). Extra pricey for this 20" line.
Searched eBay using all the numbers, no luck. Did find it, apparently in stock at LMC for $60 delivered.
Local parts stores searched and found the OE number crossed to a Murray #55782. O'Reillys can get it, from Houston, for $41+tax, so I'll see what it is when it arrives Tuesday.
At least I pared down the cost from the Ford OE $100 to $45 from the local parts store. Maybe I lucked out with this....
Whole other story about why the hose rebuilder could not rebuild this particular line, but could/did rebuild the other two lines....the option given was $200+.
I appreciate your response. Thank you!

Wow---glad you found that line---I know the hunt for such things can be frustrating and aggravating too. It is rather odd your hose builder couldn't find the correct fittings for your missing piece though.

Next time you'll have the mechanics of searching far and wide plus a few good contacts too---good going!

Well what shows up Tuesday will tell the tale.

For some reason I can not post attachments? Don't know why tho. I'm using the 'post reply' but no 'manage attachments' box shows up below the message box. I could make it a lot clearer with a pic of the problem. It has to do with a factory disconnect at one end of the rubber line. Shop could not find that disconnect terminal-end anymore. I just did not want to reuse/rely that 30+yr old line with new pieces/parts in my AC system, plus the cost of R-12 these days. I've got plenty of it, but it is expensive anymore. That, and the weather at the time was good for finishing the job.....weather has since 'changed'...lol...next good weather for AC work will prolly be months away.

I've never used the attachment feature---is it possible to post the photo/image in your reply?

You're wise to replace any part that old---I can't live without my A/C here in Ohio so Texas must be a "gotta have it" state!

Yes, there is/was that ability to post pics. Instructions in the FAQs. I recall having same problem previously, but don't remember what the problem was. I've been a member for a long time, but attachments(photos) have always been a problem...it seems like anyway. There is supposed to be a 'manage attachments' box below this box you type in. From that box, when it shows, you browse your computer for uploading a photo from your system. Once you upload whatever photo you want, it then gives you a url which you copy then paste to the 'insert image' link in the toolbox above this reply box.
You can scroll down to the 'posting rules' on the bottom left side, where you will see what you can do. For some reason on mine....'you may not post attachments' shows. For all I know they cancelled the ability....?

If you're using the Quick Reply box and not Post Reply or Go Advanced boxes you're somewhat limited to words only. I also see the "may not post attachments"---not sure what to make of it.

Photos need to be stored on a hosting site such as PhotoBucket which will have direct link URL's for each image or a whole album. Posting images becomes a bit easier with a little practice.

I've known how to post photos for a very long time. They do not need to 'be somewhere else' at all. Like I said previously: I've posted photos to this forum before and have been a member here for a long time. Something has changed here about photo posting. Don't know what or why.

Sorry----I've only known posting photos hosted elsewhere, on FTE and most other forums I've visited or contributed to---didn't mean to suggest you were completely unaware!

Applications: 1980/82 F100/350 & Bronco except units assembled in Twin Cities or Norfolk / 1983/86 F100/350 & Bronco.

Thanks Bill

The number E4TZ19837B/MC #YF1214 I posted was the number given to me by the local Ford parts store. The line I bought is the YF1214 which crossed to a Murray 55782. This Murray line is straight where my OE line had a bend in the connection pipe at the evaporator end. It is a tad shorter than the OE line too.
I wonder if the YF1213 line has the 'end with the bend'?
Truck was assembled in Louisville #79664.
Pics I'm attempting to post are #1 OE line, #2 long view of factory installation.
I had these in an album I made years ago, but forgot.

Dueling references: Parts catalog sez E4TZ-19837-B: YF-1213 / Dealer parts locator system says E4TZ-19837-B: YF-1214

And...there might be a slight difference in hoses because E4TZ is a 1984 part number prefix, so the original number EOTZ-19837-B was replaced by E4TZ-19837-B.

And...E4TZ-19837-A replaced EOTZ-19837-A

FoMoCo is in-famous for replacing/updating 10's of 1000's of part numbers EVERY YEAR! A royal PITA back then and today. Ridiculous!

Difference in lines. I'd rather have an OE match.
