Glowshift Gauge Dimming info
So I thought that once my guages were in I would be able to use the trucks dimming switch to adjust back lighting like the trucks interior lighting. I saw a post today were another poster was having trouble with his and he had tapped into the same wire I was going to use, blue w/red stripe which is variable voltage for cab light dimming.
I called Glowshift to get the skinny. On the 7 color gauges they have a wire for dimming(orange) but its not for variable dimming. When attached to your parking light or headlight power it automatically dims the backlight by a set amount(approx 30 %) when powered. Hooking to variable with not work.
Just thought I would share this to keep someone from cutting a wire needlessly.
Side note: they also use a wire that needs to be connected to unswitched full time 12v pwr. I was a little concerned about pwr drain. Turns out this one is just for a memory circuit to remember the last color selected and is a so small a pwr user as to not be a concern.
