Since I am up a little bit early today I wanted to be the one to start a new thread for chat. I really appreciate all the many friendships here and am looking forward to meeting many of you in March. And while I am here I have another question, has anyone experienced a bumping sound or popping when turning tight in your 4wd(the truck was in 2wd) but almost acted like the 4wd was on, and very similar to the what I call 'bunny hop'. It actually makes a popping sound in time with the tire revolutions. Just askin' Thanks for the input and Thank you for letting me be a part of the chapter.
Morning gentlemen. In December I was thinking about writing a letter to Al Gore telling him how far off the mark he was with his internet that's caused the global warming. Now I'm thinking ole Al was onto something...just a little ahead of his time.

Morning Harry, if I would have known you were up this early I would have stopped by for a cup of coffee before continuing the trek back up here to Misery.

I've been getting something similar...thou not as pronounced lately with the Pavement Princess. It only does it making a some-what tight turn here in town. I have a theory it's related to the limited slip rear-end. I need to check the fuild in the rear end; I'm sure at 110k it's time to swap out the OEM stuff that's been there since Sept '03. Another project to add to the "list"

My '03 4x4 PS SD made a similar sound during the last few months of my ownership. Hard right turn.....could be tires, could be something in the steering. Never did figure out the problem - then again, I didn't try too hard to figure it out. My 190,000 mile
'00 Excursion is a 2 wheel drive and has never made that sound - I have owned it for 12 years now. It may be a 4x4 thing.
How dare we suggest Al was wrong about anything..... heheeheheheh

Should have given me a call, I owe you breakfast anyway.Would have been a good chance for you to get a breakfast at any rate, if I had NOT been up would have been a chance to get hung up on...........LOL

I am not sure where the problem stems from but when I got new tires mounted could not make it do "It". Had the tires rotated and sound is back I think I will have wheels rebalanced to see if it has any effect, but first gonna put the truck over pit and have a real good look. Afraid it maybe tie-rod end, wanna check it out.
A friends Excursion makes/made a popping sound during turns & her boyfriend found out it had bad ball joints. It was 4x4 but last time I checked, all the newer trucks were BJ based.
In other news, put up version 1.0 of my fence this morning after I fed the chickens. Just loops from the water spigot around the chicken pen then to the corner of the house. Plenty of room for our pup to run around for now.
Wow you guys are on the ball with the off topic thread
My 01 F250 2wd had a bit of a "pop" during turns from the limited slip diff.
Changed the fluid out for some Schaeffers and some friction modifier and it's for the most part gone, although I think next time I'll drive it a bit before I add the friction modifier.
Which we all know for a "fact" ( ) means 6 more weeks of winter. Gees, it's been a brutal one this year. Don't know if I'll make another 6 weeks.

I'm thinking it would have been the later...I passed your place about 0315-0320. But hey, I'll keep that idea in mind for future reference.

That's where I can hear/feel it in my truck. Though I noticed Tuesday while changing the fuel filters that one of my 58k mile Michelins is starting to show shoulder wear on the inside. Lucky me, ball joints are in my future.

That's not a bad price for powder coating. Is that regardless of size?

I asked about 15s but I would say thats a safe price for stuff around that size (16 or less). I will find out about 16s when I get at least one more to make a set of 5 3/4ton wagon wheels or a couple more dually wheels.
$25-$30 per wheel to sand blast & powdercoat, Im better off doing that than buying or borrowing a blaster,PC gun & color from Eastwood, hunting down an old oven & building a booth.
HELL YA!!!! Found a NP203!!! $50! Shame Im only going to need 1/2 of it. From the way he was talking NP205s are worth a pretty penny around here.... sure as hell didnt tell him I have a 205 out in the barn. Also found a dually rim that looks like it will fit my 1ton & a piece of angle iron that is the same size as the 2 outer uprights on the 1ton. Just gotta get it off him so I can finish cutting up the headache rack & redoing it.
I like NP205's!!! Lemme know if you ever need to unload it or perhaps even if it needs stored in my shop! I am always happy to help a fellow FTE'er out!!
In other news, Thursday evening my wife was "nudged" off the road by a SWN gas company truck...too much drilling out here and they are not considerate at all.....she tagged a mailbox and destroyed my 2000 Excursion passenger side mirror. No other scratches, pretty amazing! I hate putting aftermarket Tiawan junk on as replacement parts but the fit and finish is actually pretty decent. Mirror is a tad bit wavey but functional. With 190,299 miles on the old rig I don't have much of an issue suffering with it. Factory Ford stuff is so overppriced and couldn't come close to finding one in a yard near me. Had to resort to a quick fix.

LMAO!!! No offense to you or anyone else that would like to store it for me but I will clean out my wife's side of the closet floor to keep stuff if I have to.
