Airbag Light Codes??

I have a 2001 4x4 with 4.0 auto. When I start the truck the airbag light will flash 4 times pause and flash 6 times. It will repeat the 2 or 3 times then stay on. The local Ford dealer of course want to charge me to put on the computer and run all the diagnostic tests. I know from an old crown vic I had that airbag light codes don't always have to do with the airbag. Does anyone know where I can get info about this code??

The problem is often the seat belt under seat electrical connector pin/socket contact resistance. Disconnect the battery B- cable & leave a door open, so the dome lights discharge things.

Disconnect the passenger side seat belt under seat electrical connector & apply a small dab of electrical connector contact lube to the connectors pins & reconnect. While your at it, you might consider also doing the drivers side connector. Then reconnect the battery B- cable.

To preclude driveability problems, maybe also consider going through the cold & warm idle strategy relearn routine, as disconnecting the battery to make it safer to work on the air bag circuitry also wipes the KAM, which also controls engine idle, fuel trim tables, ect.

More thoughts for consideration, let us know how it goes.
