Ok, got everything all vacuumed up and scrubbed the carpet and cloth parts of the seats with some oxy-clean. Then gave it a whirl with the Bissell steam cleaner. Sure sucked alot of stuff out of the carpet.

Everything came out pretty good IMO. The kids like this setup better and I don't have to get out of the Ex to slide the 2nd row bench foward so they can gain access to the 3rd row without climbing over the seats. Now they can gain access easily down the center between the two captain's chairs.........just like Pete (F250_ ) I plan on keeping then bench for those long road trips so the kids can strech out on the benches and take a nap when needed................

Rich, thanks for posting this thread... I would love to find a set of rear captain chairs someday but if not, I now know what to use to clean my carpets!

Ben (Soaggydog) told me to try Oxi-clean when I first bought the Excursion. Wow -did that stuff pull the dirt & crap out of the carpet, including any odors . Then I used the Bissell steam cleaner to suck it all out . At first I was worried about any bleaching or discoloring - didn't happen.

 

So, interested in a potential swap for my bench seat in the future, but this thread and other threads like it always talk about 2000 models versus 2002+ models. What about those of us with 2001's? Where do we fall in the mix?

2000 and 2001 have the same seats, 2002-05 have a different style. As far as I know, the leather is the same color, the stitching pattern is just a little different. The size/brackets should all be the same too, so it's just an appearance issue.

Yep, the seats I installed in my 2000 Excursion came out of a 6.0L (2004+) and I can't see any difference in the color. They still have been one of the best mods I have done to the Excursion

 

I just traded my 2004 6.0L Eddie Bauer for a 2003 7.3L. Using the information from White Buffalo I was able to put the 2nd Row buckets and carpet from the 2004 into the 7.3L 2003. We then took the carpet from the 2003 (that had the holes for the Split Bench) and put it in the 2004.
