i just a bought a new edelbrock 600cfm electric choke 1406 carb..i hookup it up just like the old i was running which was the samr make 1406 carb..but it was wore out..but the new one cranks up fine but idle up like 1500 or sometimes hight rpm and the idle screw has no effect on it...well i started to adjust on the electric choke and got it to idle to 800 rpm and the idle screw adjustment worked then...it was running good but after i drove it about 15 miles to my house it was idle up again to like 1500 rpm i open the hood and there is a rod that goes from the choke side to the throttle side like a kickdown lever or something so i push on that lever and it went down to the right rpm idle..am i doing something wrong or what?

 

I had the same problem with mine at first. I added an external return spring and that solved it for me.
