mileage on a 300 I6 w C4 auto

Getting 14 MPG around town. Plugs are nice toasty brown. I'm guessing that's about as good as it gets with these motors, right?

If you're looking for mileage, I'd aim for a light tan vs. a toasty brown.

However, 14mpg is pretty good for around town. Most likely because you have the C4 auto instead of the C6 (which has quite a heftier power requirement).

I get 10 city and 14 freeway but my trucks geared to pull, for a fullsized truck with only a 3 speed 14 isn't bad.

Thats what the red truck in my avatar picture pulled down average. Couple times I saw 17 running unloaded, but 14 is good.

I have a 500cfm edelbrock carb, offy dual port intake, 3.55 gears with a locker, 31" tires, NP435 4 speed, EFI manifolds but had hooker super comp no difference in a 1985 4x4 f150 and i can get 16.6 city in the summer pulling my small walk behind mower. It used to have the rug OD 4 speed and got even better on the highway, old owner claimed 19-20mpg highway but i don't know for sure.

I used to have 4.10 gears, locker, 33" tires, same carb and intake and the mileage stayed the same even when calcualting the speedo difference. I can't believe how bad some of the newer trucks are for city mileage.
