I was searching for some info on rebuilding alternators and starters and came across these folks and thought I'd pass a link along to y'all. I shot them a e-mail just to make sure they have the kit for are Trucks. Check them out and see what you think.

I am not seeing where to order a kit from on their page. Anyone tried them yet?
Local shop wants $145 to rebuilt it to stock settings. Doesn't make sense when I can get a new one (not rebuilt) for $92 shipped to me.
Wanted to try and rebuild my old one myself and just see how it goes.

One part this doesn't address (as far as I could tell) was resurfacing the comm (applies to both starter & alt) just putting in new brushes and bearings will only get you so far - a high quality rebuild will include a resurfacing/truing of the comm using a lathe and a diamond cutting tool. This step also doubles as a check of the rotor balance. New brushes + a good trued /cleaned comm = long life rebuild.

The F-605 gray/green regulator supposedly supersedes the gray/gray one with a "soft-start" feature instead. I don't know that I would really consider that an "upgrade" or not.
The new slip rings they provide are the ones with the hard leads, and require you to cut grooves in the fan blade to install them. Though that's not all bad, it does possibly set the balance off slightly. There are also slip ring kits with more flexible leads that can be installed without cutting the grooves in the fan.
If the upper of those two kits actually comes with all they say it does (which is basically ALL the alternator except the stator windings, the two case halves, the pulley, and the front bearing spacer), then it's a great deal at $40. But I suspect something's wrong with that pricing.....
I may call them to see about this.

He sure could use some help in the grammar dept. My first thought isn't so hot, but then I thought again. I'm kinda in the same boat trying to start a personal business while I wait for school to get in gear in the fall. You know, you gotta start somewhere. I'm sure most of us have dead alternators rolling around. As cheap as the parts are, I don't see how you've got much to loose. It's worth a shot and worst case, you'll at least know how they come apart!

You'll need only a couple of specialized tools to get it all apart.
One is a socket big enough to get the pulley nut off, and a puller to pull the rear bearing.
I use one of these for that job:
Steel Faucet Handle and Compression Sleeve Puller Kit-T168 at The Home Depot
I wonder if their diode pack uses Schottky diodes. Probably not, for that price.

Yes. Just got off the phone with Mike, who is very knowledgeable. We talk the same "language".
They use quality parts (NTN bearings), and though their avalanche diode supplier is Chinese, it's supposedly a very good one.
These guys are really a rebuilder themselves, and service repair shops in the Canton, Ohio area, with sales extending out to Cleveland. They are just beginning to branch out into internet sales of kits, thus we don't see a whole lot of things available for our specific trucks yet.
They are familiar with on-line forums, however, and spend time in Mustang and Jeep forums.
The diode pack they use allows people to not have to DE-solder the old pack, but to just snip it off. The terminals on the new one are recessed in such a way that the cut wires still fit through the attach points for RE-soldering the new pack.
I asked about the cost of the kits, and wondered why the price is where it is. He said they may have to go up on that. No wonder to me, given all that comes in the kit.
They are also going to get into starter kits for both the Mitsubishi and NipponDenso units. It's just time and manpower available to do it.
I may try to find a large-frame 6G and use one of their kits to go through it.
