I used one from a 69 ford. It fits like a glove but the body lines don't match perfectly.

Darn I was hoping that this was a different question.

But the bed sitting on my 74 right now has a 90's model tail gate in it till I can find one of the nice Ford Scroll type I like that better than the block letters.

I didn't know the 90's gates fit too (did know the 67-72's did). I'd like to see pics of the 90's gate on there.

Original Ford tailgates for 73-79 all have the FORD block letters and some are just covered with the nice chrome FORD plate. You can put that on any gate, just have to make a hole template and drill the holes for the screws. Any gate without the FORD letters are aftermarket.

Ya, you could always get some sheet metal and have a FORD script CNC'd into the metal and then graft it into the gate. I can't remember where the pic is, but I think someone customized their tailgate with a FORD script and had LED lights inside the gate to light it up at night. It was really cool.

I would cut the lettering out of a step side and put it into a regular bed tailgate.

Kinda like this but with the metal in the dent part more of the original. Hope this makes some sense.

It looks to plain Jane with it flat like the rest of the tailgate.

Yeah - I'd still like to see what a 80/90's tailgate looks like on our 70's bed.
