Boss 429?

I am trying to replace a water pump on what I thought was a 460 in a 75 F-250. New water pump did not line up, doing a search with the casting numbers on the original pump (C8SE 8505-E) I found out the pump belongs to a 429 Boss. I know the 429 and 460 block are the same, but I have just bought a cam and headers for the same rig and don’t know if I should change anything or not. The only thing I know for sure about this motor is it’s not the original block for this truck. Are the Boss heads or block special, and what numbers am I looking for to see if it’s more than just the water pump that is a Boss? This one has kind of thrown me for a loop, any advice would be appreciated.

If its a Boss 429 the valve covers will be extremely wide with the spark plugs being located through the valve cover. Its a rare engine as well, I doubt you would find one in a pick up and not know about it before hand.
I didn't do any checking on that part number but are you sure its a 429/460 and not a 360/390? Can you post a pic?

I’m pretty sure it’s a 460, but this water pump has me scratching my head. Plugs are normal, nothing going through the valve covers. I guess it’s possible previous owner put in boss water pump and radiator on this rig. This inlet is on drivers side, normal 460 is on passenger side. Of course Boss 429 water pump is twice as much, welcome to my world!!

Or this may be a little closer to what you see IF you have one. And it's a big if.
If you engine looks like this, then look to the heavens and thank your creator for giving you the holy grail.
Edit
You already responded.

DO NOT USE THAT WATER PUMP AS A CORE!!!.. Boss 429 owners will go to great lengths to obtain OEM and dated-coded parts. Call these guys and let'em know what you have: Boss Performance Home Page - Ford Mustang Boss 429 performance, parts, restoration and World Registry.

Wanna build a Boss 9 based on a 460? Jon Kaase Racing Engines - John Kaase Racing Engines has what you need. Bring your wallet, checkbook, and first-born.

C8SE 8505-E is the "shorty" pump used from 68-70 in 429 applications. Yes the 429 Boss, but also 429 Thunderbirds.

Throw it up on eBay and watch the bids fly in from "ignorant" ones. A $35 pump from Autozone is also going to have C8SE 8505-E cast into it as well.

I appreciate the help. Will finish my build and see if this is worth anything. Has FoMoCo on it, never would have thought a water pump would be worth anything.

guess previous owner went with a Boss water pump, don’t know if that is an advantage. I guess my only other hope is this would be a Boss block? Any difference or easy way to tell the difference? Once again, i appreciate the help, i am a Ford big block rookie!!!

For some reason you have a "shorty" water pump, most commonly found installed in 429 Thunderbirds.

The reason for the "shorty"? To save space at the front of the engine. Nothing more.

If you have a 429, it was likely taken from a T-Bird or LTD.

Welcome to the FoMoCo world of 429/460 waterpumps!

Josh: 1968/69 Lincoln & 1969 Mark III used a geared Vickers Drive P/S pump w/a remote mounted P/S reservoir.

The pump mounts on engine block, runs off crankshaft, so there's no pulley or fan belt. P/S hoses route from pump to reservoir, reservoir to P/S gearbox.
