86 ranger only getting 13mpg!
my little ranger only gets 13mpg wtf? it has the fuel injected 2.9 in it tied to the auto tranny.at 65mph its only spinning 2200rpm,its 2wheel drive this thing should be pulling 16mpg imo. it has new plugs wires cap roter and i cleaned the egr valve and sea foamed it,no improvement what so ever.any ideas

I average 23 mpg wth warmer weather, once the under 30 temps hit in the morning I average around 20.
Definately check the air filter. Probably replace the fuel filter.
I would inspect the convertor as well.
Beyond that, it would seem the engine isn't going into closed loop.
Suspect:
ECT
O2 Sensor

It's stuff to say right now, we need more details.
Is the engine coming up to temp? Do only have the factory gauges or a set of aftermarket as well?
All the sensors play a part in getting the engine into closed and they rely on coolant temp, outside temps and more. And there is a chain of command the ECM relays on with those sensors.
