Engine compatibility?

I bought an '01 f350 auto with 7.3 liter turbo. Engine is bad.

I've found an engine in an '02 ambulance also 7.3 w/ turbo.

Any reason this wouldn't work as a straight swap?

Thanks

Welcome to FTE.

No problem with the switch. The only problem is if you have an auto in one and a manual shift in the other.

There is no problem at all... Just need to make sure you have the correct adapter on the back of the motor.

Only other thing is the 2002 will be out of a van, so you will have the van turbo and no IC piping... Just a matter of taking things off the bad motor and swaping it over.

Otherwise a weekend worth of work and your done.

That's a good point Rick. Cause there not all vans. At least not around here! So robnkim, do you know if this ambulance is a van or superduty?

it's a 99. I was mistaken. I've looked at so many. Anyway, it's a super duty. He thought all that needed to be modified was something to do with the turbo, but his knowlege of the process didn't make me comfortable enough to travel that far and do all the work. So that's why I turn to you guys!

Does it being a '99 change anything?

Is it an early 99 or late?

Late 99- no issues at all other then what I mentioned above... And your getting Forged rods out of the deal...

Early 99- no major issues, just need to swap a few things to make it work right... Intake Plentums, Up pipes and all turbo parts and pieces, Injectors and the HPOP.

All these should come off your doner truck without issue assuming they are still good on it.
