Melted Shifter Cable

I was crawling around under my new Ex and noticed that the shifting cable was rubbing against the oxygen sensor and was melted half way through. I temporarily propped the cable against the tranny but will have to find a permanent solution. Does anyone have a picture of the cable routing on your Ex that I could compare mine with?

Hate to have questions on this forum go unanswered. Everybody's so helpful here. I'll give it a shot to jump start it.

I have not noticed the same issue when under my Ex. Can you post a picture so we know where exactly yours is sitting? Then one of us can snap a pic of the same spot showing the proper routing. Also is your's a 2wd or 4wd?

Could you make a simple bracket to wrap around the cable and bolt to the trans to hold the cable away from the exhaust?

Here is a photo of the cable and it's routing near the oxygen sensor.

I don't have a v10 so I can't help... but that plastic thing on the lower right looks like a mounting tab that should go somewhere....

Is the cable pulled down out of the floor at all? Looks like the cable should be up at lest 1-2"

Was it replaced at some point maybe?

Didn't forget about you. Looks like mine routes real close to where your's is but it's touching the O2 sensor and not directly on the exhaust. Maybe try to pull it off the exhaust with a well placed zip tie further up stream and rotate the heat/abrasion shield so there is something between the cable and the exhaust heat.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the picture. The next time I am under there I will try to rig something up to hold it away from the sensor.
