Are you trying to get the pulley off? I believe you need a PS pump pulley puller.

Yes. I thought it was just a matter getting the bolt out.

Nope sorry. Its "pressed" on, and has to be pulled off with a puller, and installed with a PS pulley installer. Most of the time, the one tool does both jobs.

X2.... Just one word of warning, when you get the pulley off DO NOT try to put it back on with a hammer, you WILL destroy the pump if you do.. Also don't try pressing it on with a shop press, that won't work either.. It takes a special tool.

When I swapped and got my new Sag pump, it actually came with a bolt/nut/washer combo that you can use to install the pulley, but you do need the special tool to remove a pulley. Costs about $25 to buy or borrow one for free.

I bent the installer bolt from the first $25 set I got from Autozone, got it replaced but it happened again. At this point my pulley was only one or two millimeters from its proper position so I decided to just leave it as is. It's just the bolt that bends, so maybe you can get a stronger one from Home Depot to do it. I think it was 7/16".

Advance Auto Parts rents them along with AutoZone. Be sure to spray some WD40 or Liquid Wrench on the threads of the tool while using it so it stays cool and lubricated, making it work easier.

Mac, Matco, Snap On, they're all better....just need to use them enough to justify the cost. I'd hate to think of how much is wrapped up in tools & box.

Yeah. My dad is 42, and been a mechanic since he was 17. He's probably got $10,000 of tools in his personal shop, and probably $15,000 of tools he has at the work shop.

He helps me out a bunch. Trouble shooting, advice, fixing, and letting me use tools I don't have.

I hear ya. Just to do the job on the new stuff is getting expensive. $3k for a scan tool to do diagnostics made it a little difficult to sleep that night.

Oh yeah. He payed $1500 for a used scan tool that normally cost $3000. Then there is all the specialized tools.
