Axle upgrade to newer style (2012 Axle)

Has anyone swapped out their rear Axle on an Excursion or F 250 for one out of a newer truck with the speed sensors on the wheels. If so how did you make the speed sensor work?

Yes. Take the sensor out of you old axle, and put it in the new axle.

There was a thread on the 7.3L sub-forum about installing the newer E-Locker rear axle in older SD. The differential housing still has the boss for the VSS,...it just needs to be drilled/reamed and the hold down bolt drilled/tapped. Of course you have to install a tone ring on the ring gear too....and get the air gap correct for the VSS (Hall Effect) sensor to read correctly.

Thank you very much Dan. That was the information I was looking for. Now just to find a machine shop that can take care of it. You wouldn't happen to have the link for that thread you mentioned?
