Nerf Bar - Side Steps
I have been looking everywhere for nerfbars or running boards or side steps w/e the hell you wanna call them.
I can find them, few specifically able to fit my truck, and they are sooo expensive, do you guys suggest anywhere to buy these or have any other suggestions for nerf boards/side steps?

i got the stainless nerf bars.if i had to do it again,id go with something else.though they look nice, they don't stick out far enough for mens feet, they're also pretty high up to where you might as well just step on the floor too,so i find myself stepping over them instead of on them.ugg.
why others failed to mention this in threads i searched before buying i dunno.

Try looking at junkyards. All three of my trucks came with them, so there has to be others out there. I had to remove the drivers side step on my truck as it was about to rip off the entire rocker panel. The ones on both my parts trucks mount to the frame instead, so less of an issue there.

The old school aluminum running boards are pretty generic. Screw to the pinch weld, screw mud flap to fender lip. support brackets can be made with some angle stock. That is what I did with mine. Got running boards free with brackets missing. Go all the way to rear wheel. Do loose some ground clearance though.

The chain link isn't a bad idea if you do it the way I'm thinking. Weld the links for the horizontal step, but leave the vertical parts loose so the can move around. That way they won't get ripped off if you catch a stump or rock offroad. Also won't hurt quite so much when you're under the truck and roll into or bash your head on them.

that's still not chump change.but they are stainless,so you know they wont rust out.
im not sure if i have a good pic of 'em or not.but in my recent body work thread is a recent pic.you can see the problem with them.too high up to the floor of the cab and too close.i guess the biggest issue is they don't stick out far enough.as you can picture yourself trying to actually step on them to get into the cab, you'll see the issue.your toes of your boots hit the cab long before you can get the center of your boot on 'em.perhaps having 13" shoe size doesn't help lol.even stepping sideways is barely enough really.maybe i can get custom welded up brackets to get them out from the cab another 2" or so someday.
