I think that's the same technique that was used in a few American Chopper episodes

It is a several day process....paint, let dry completely. Dip, let dry completely. Clearcoat, let dry completely. You get my point. He told me Tuesday now.

Here it is Tuesday, but not quite yet...

He originally told me their backlog was about 6 weeks so I paid him an extra 10 spot for a "rush" order. He did move me to close to the front of the line but there must have been others that flipped him a 20...

Clearcoat goes on today and needs another day or so to dry. It's ok, I am in no hurry and would rather have it right than fast.

Here's a crappy cell phone picture but it will give you an idea. He said the high gloss clear will bring out the silver color and lighten it up a bit too.

and the before pic for reference:

Me likey!

I really like this. Now who did this and how long did it take.
I am thinking about just purchasing that piece and then sending to be done. My 2012 has been getting mods for the past 12 days. It should be done this week..I am so excited to see how it comes out.

I had it done in Liberty, MO at:

Roberts Outdoor Hydrographics: Water Transfer Printing/Camo Dipping

and it took about 3 weeks. But there are lots of hydrographics places around. You might have one much closer to you.

That looks great. Wonder what a matte finish would look like rather than high gloss?

The real CF panels usually has a high gloss gel coat finish, plus the high gloss can bring out the silvery reflection in the film. I have the fenders on my golf cart finished in matte, IMO kinda looks funny, I now wish I have done it in high gloss.

Send me your dash and a wallet sized portrait of Benjamin Franklin and we'll find out...
