Have dads and grandads truck painted ( kinda ) picked up a cpp tilt column, mid fifty toy P/S unit and a under dash AC unit. So my winter will be busy. Looking to do a faketina to the already poor paint job, have lots of sandpaper and rattle can paint.

I love this thread- glad to see the old boys used for what they were intended for. Here's my old beater that sees a lot of off highway use with my Alaskan camper. This one was shot in the Mojave Desert.

This one was on the road to Saline Valley in California. I took the kiddies along on that trip.

This one is a little more recent near central Nevada at Spencer Hot Springs.

This truck also hauls full loads of dirt and gravel when it's not on vacation, so it really can't afford to spend much time at the paint shop! I do maintain it pretty carefully though. It has solid brakes, sway bars front and rear and the 292 is upgraded with alternator and an msd distributor.

That picture wasn't taken today but the weather is just about the same now as it was then...80 degrees and sunny. I grew up in Cincinnati so I can appreciate how brutal the cold weather can be, that's why I'm not in Ohio any longer!

I'm building a beater - unintentionally.

I got my truck sheet metal parts painted last June and have been assembling the truck since then. Somehow I've managed to put big honking scratches on three of the four fenders, and both doors. And I haven't even finished putting it together!
Now I feel like I have to whack the last fender and then the hood to make it balanced.
The perils of working alone in a one-car garage I suppose. So my truck is growing with character one day at a time. According to a project forecasting software algorithm, at the rate I'm depreciating the cosmetic condition during the restoration - it will be a bona-fide genuine beater in six months and four days.
