Just ordered RiffRaff's new welded Piston Oil Jets!
Just wanted everyone here know that I ordered new welded Piston Cooling Oil Jets from Clay at RiffRaff. I wanted to make sure that anyone who has their oil pan off now know about these.
I found out about these literally 2 hours after I RTV'd and torqued down all my oil pan bolts while just randomly browsing through RiffRaff's website. Looks like I'm pulling my oil pan off for the second time to get these in! It's cheap insurance to just know you will never have one of these things pop off like they are known to do and have to pull the engine out, pry off the oil pan, clean off the old RTV, put new RTV on, re-torque the pan back on, and replace the engine. When these oil jets aren't in place doing their job, BAD things happen in time.

Good to hear you got a set of them. I would suggest you join the Riffraff Diesel Facebook page. Clay will often post information about new products on there right away. He posted about the cooling jets on the 13th, that might have saved you some rework!
Besides, Clay often has giveaways on his Facebook site! Cool Stuff all the time!

Hi Guys, I'm learning about the 7.3 PSD through your great forum. I'm new to diesels and was wondering what these do? My guess is that they shoot oil on the cylinder walls or pistons? I'll be getting some stuff from Clay soon and would like to includes these since they sound like cheap insurance. Thanks for any info. Ray

This is a trick I read about here on FTE.
Everytime you drain the pan rap on it with a rubber mallet and listen for something metallic vibrating on the bottom of the pan. I can't explain the noise exactly because, fortunately, I haven't heard it yet. If you hear something it is extremely likely it is an oil jet or part of one.
Drake,
I just knew you would be removing that pan again.

Does that make Clay a no brainer? Not exactly sure how that works.
