new rear glass lift struts too stiff

Anyone changed their lift struts for the rear glass? I have checked Monroe and Strong Arm brands. Both are so stiff that i cannot compress them by hand. I am am afraid the rear glass will break when i try to close the window. Any guidance appreciated.

You shouldn't be able to compress them by hand.

It sounds like you're just trying to push on one at the auto parts store. There's a huge mechanical advantage once installed on the lift glass.

When I replaced mine I had that same thought. It seemed like it took alot of force to close the glass, but I have not had any problems. I assume over time it will get easier & easier until they don't hold again.

rear glass lift struts

Went ahead and swapped them out with Strong Arm brand struts from Advance Auto. $26 each, less $20 per pair after online discount code.
Took about 5 minutes each side to R &R . Glass is intact!
Thanks for your support!

Sounds like a deal! Mine are getting a bit weak, hopefully they have another year or two in them.

Just look on the top of their webpage for the current code. The code is for online purchasing only.

Advance Auto Parts: Car, Engine, Batteries, Brakes, Replacement, Performance & Accessories

Many more discount codes are available online for varying amounts and minimum purchases. It pays to search them out.
