C-6 tranny, power hog?

By cheap way are you talking about mounting a manual behind a 360, buying aan adpater plate and mod. drive shaft. Or just getting all the parts like flywheel and such or both. If I decidded to this it would be long term and depending on my luck get everything cheap form junkyard. Plus it might be fun to have a 5 speed manual in a 70 f-100.

no as they were never put in any ford truck ! just chevy and dodge !
stay away from the NV3500 as it is a weak tranny that wont last long , had 2 many problems not holding up !

I know this thread is old, but for anyone searching the info..........I swapped from a C6 to a T19, behind a 351W.
The gain was only 1.5 mpg (running empty, 55 mph); but there was a noticeable power gain; also a 3" increase in vacuum, climbing same hills/same speed.
I'm sure there is a bigger mpg gain with the manual trans towing (or loaded). But I didn't have mpg #'s for the C6 when towing, to compare.
