What Did You Pay For Your F150 XLT or FX4?
Hi all, I am totally new to the forum. I have been going crazy checking prices on the the XLT and fx4 ecoboost. I see numbers around $52000 plus. Its really crazy how much trucks are and I see incentives as high as $10,500. I have had bad experiences in the past dealing with dealerships and find that I over pay big time. I don't want to get taken for a ride especially now that i have a family to feed. What are people here paying for the 2011 F150 4x4 Crew cab xlt or Fx4? I live in Golden, British Columbia. I would love recommendations from forum members as to where I should take my business. I also will be trading in a vehicle. There again,I know for a fact that I will be likely losing some money on that. I want to find an honest dealership that right away gives all the incentives that a customer is entitled to. Thanks in advance folks!

On the last three vehicles I've purchased, including my '09 F150 4x4 Lariat package, I've bought them used with few miles. My wife's loaded '06 Sequoia came in '09 with 26K, the one before came with '31K and my truck was 3 years old with '24. Those first few years of depreciation are costly on a current model year off the lot. Unless you plan to drive the wheels off of it, why take such a hit? Let somebody else and start looking in the used car lots of the dealerships. Most will still have a factory warranty that will get you through the first few years at least.

2011 FX4 5.0. I am too lazy to figure out how to bring out the window sticker. But it was 44,000 with the 1000 discount for the luxury package already taken out. Got it for 35,800.
That was largely because it was a 2011 and I bought it right after christmas. There were probably 5 other FX4's on the lot I would have probably rather had but they were 2012s and they could get nowhere near that price because they lack the rebates. So they had to bring it from 5 hours away and that probably cost me another 1000 on the deal I imagine because they did a dealer trade.

Parker245 mentioned used. I was looking used and thinking that I could get a fully loaded F150 for a fraction of the price a king ranch. I went to a car site that allows you to read consumer reviews and I found that the Fords made in 04, 05, and 06 had too many problems. Especially the 2006 F150 which had some issue involving spark plugs breaking off? 2007 I could do, but the dealer at Maclin Ford told me that once you factor everything in for rebates on the 2011, that the payment would be the same. So, I have now looked as far back as 2003 which had great reviews with 95% recommending that year.

I've got a 2011 FX4 5.0L Supercab with the FX-Plus Package.
The Windowsticker reads 39,000$ But after rebate's, downpayment, and my trade in were all accounted for, I drove out of the lot with a 27,000$ tab istead of a 39,000$ tab.
I felt like it was a steal...I even special orderd the truck from the factory.

We did a little negotiations. It was a little tough though because I pretty much had narrowed it down, it HAD to be an FX4 and it HAD to have leather/heated seats, remote start, and trailer brake. Because we are moving to alaska in 5 months. Not sure who would want to run outside in the morning at -40 to start their truck, and heated seats are not a requirement in the lower 48 but I'm pretty sure in -40 they will make their money. I dont know if it is just good timing on our part or what. I would have to drag the papers out to see exactly what the deal was. But I want to say they pretty much automatically came down 4000 off of sticker before rebates, etc. We also got the 1000 dollar cash from doing a trade in. I was looking at selling my car for 13000. I was figuring they would only give me 11 or so for it but I told them what I wanted to get for it and the came back in about 10 minutes saying they would give me 13000 for my car, which ended up being 14000 if you count the trade in cash.
Also not figuring in down payment. We did 4k down on the 35,800.
On a side note we probably could have found tad bit better of a deal on a Lariat since they were a dime a dozen but I absolutely HATE the interior of the Lariat. The light colored wood grain is hideous.

Used trucks and SUV's are holding value now better than they have in years past. The depreciation savings isn't what it used to be though it still does exist to a small degree.
New truck incentives and financing rates make it much more lucrative for the consumer IMHO.
I have an XLT Scab 4x4 with the EB engine. I paid 29K plus TTL and the truck listed for 37,500 plus TTL. I bought mine in June 2011 and I did scour the used lots such as Carmax, Ford used lots and anyone that I saw with an F-150 for sale. The prices were just too high and the general attitude was "if you don't buy it, someone else will".
To sweeten the deal, I got a 1.9% loan from Ford Credit.

May I ask where you guys purchased your trucks? I was also wondering if I am missing anything here for incentives. Ford has 0% or 9500$ off plus the Costco discount of $1000?
Now, I was thinking about selling my FJ privately as well. But, lets say privately I get $20,000 and I owe $12500 on it. The way I figure it, the tax savings will be 2 to 3$ thousand on a new truck. If the deal were to offer me $18 grand, I think that I would take it as I wouldn't be much further ahead selling privately?
So back to incentives here in BC and Alberta, have I missed anything? What else shouuld I be on the look out for? I was considering takling any offer from the dealership and going to my local Ford dealership and seeing if they could beat that? Their prices here seem really high and they advertise that they would beat any other offers (thats what the newspaper said). So, lets suppose that I decide on the Fx4 ecoboost 6.5 foot box, and teh sticker price is 46$, what would you guys say that I should be paying so that I can sleep at night? What would your offer be without discounts?

A neighbor just got a 2011 XLT EB, 4x4, 4 door (crew?),chrome pkg, towing pkg, 3.55, cloth interior, etc, STicker was about $41k.
He got it on the road for just under $36. Said they came off it almost $8k before taxes. Also said they had about 5 other 2011 with various engines but he liked how this was drove the best.

I don't know if it works for Canada but....
I found Truecars.com to be most helpful. Their strength is in the shear amount of historical purchase information they have. The site is free to use. It is very flexible and yet comprehensive not only with the make and model you may be after but also from a location basis (whether 'local', 'regional' or 'national').
Since this website reports what people have paid for their vehicles and then displays in an easy to understand graphical manner, I would encourage everyone that buys a new vehicle to advise Truecars.com what your purchase price was (they don't ask for any personally identifiable information from you). I've done it myself - it takes less than five minutes and it provides yet another "data point" for historical price research. And that's the aspect that keeps you from being "taken to the cleaners" at the dealership.
