IMO.
180* is normal,anything over 220* will cook a tranny.
I have a magtec tranny pan and a 6.0 cooler and don't see over 180*.

Just to confirm, one of your 3 gauges is an aftermarket for the trans and one of your tunes is for towing, right? What will you tow?

General FYI: Keeping RPMs up helps keep EGTs down since more air is blowing thru the engine. As for trans the stock 7.3 trans cooler is ok if you are rolling along at 65, but slog up a steep hill at 30 and the reduced air flow plus the increased work load can lead to overheating the trans.

You can run at 220F all day long with no problems. You can go to 250F for no more than 1/2 hour at a time. Those are the Ford specs.

Yes and yes for the gauges and tuner. I'm about to do some moving, so I'm looking at a 24' trailer, pulling about 4-5k lbs..

Thanks guys for your feed back

Is too cool bad also? Now that it's winter my Trans only gets to 110,120 at best.

Subrscrible to this one.

My transmission temp is 120oF in 30oF outside. I tried block trans cooler it seem it does help little on cold day.

Didn't ford supposed to had bypass line on transmission with theromstat on it? Tran shop replaced that since old one had cut on line.

The factory cooler from a 6.0 diesel superduty is good from what I read here. I believe there is 2 sizes, not sure mabe 26 and 31 row? Both are verry big.

Yes, it is. Covering the cooler will help.

There is a bypass on the transmission. It does not have a thermostat. It has a pressure relief valve. If the cooler circuit gets restricted it opens to continue to provide lube to the rear of the trans. It does not help warm up the transmission.

Does anyone remember a write-up where someone put a hydraulic fluid thermostat device in the transmission fluid line? The device would block or reduce the flow of fluid to get the tranny fluid to operating temperature and then work (by opening or closing as needed) to hold it at that temperature. I've hunted all over and can't find the thread...can't say for sure I read it here though. Any thoughts on this Mark? Would 180 degrees be the "ideal" temperature target?

I remember see 1 thread about TRU cooler with thermostat built inside but I would like find one that you speak about hydraulic fluid thermostat device.

This is the Derale Fluid Control Thermostat Derale Cooling Products 13011 - Derale Performance Fluid Control Thermostats - Overview - SummitRacing.com that I currently have installed to bring up my cold weather fluid temps. I am experimenting with getting my temps up a little higher to aid better mpgs. I have mine mounted to bypass the TruCool and use only the stock coolers until the additional cooling is needed.
