I have RS9000 on my Toyota. After 10+ years Rancho replaced them for free because the adjusters seized up - they functioned fine otherwise. The new ones are still working great.

Very surprised to hear that whatever they are supplying Ford are so bad.

Changed them out at 34k miles. Yep, all 4 would not rebound but I don't think that is an accurate way to measure if a shock is working properly.

A gas changed shock will rebound on it's own......unless it has lost it's charge.

If it lost its nitrogen charge wouldn't the shock still function(in a diminished capacity) if it still had the hyd fluid inside? That's what I'm getting at. The nitrogen pressure is used primarily to reduce foaming in the Hyd fluid?

I changed mine to Bilstein 5100 at 6K. My two front Rancho shocks were completely shot. The two rear seemed to have some life left in them. New truck/unused bed/heavy front end

I agree with what you are getting at here. Those shocks were atrocious and probably the biggest insult to consumers. I'm just glad I had the sense to replace them as soon as I did.

My 2010 KR 250 had the FX4 pkg and I traded it in with 13k miles,,,noticed the difference in ride immediately with the 2011. Then I saw the thread ref the issue with the stock Rancho Shocks several months ago. At that time I moved up to the Bilsteins,,,with just a few thousand miles on my new truck the Ranchos were at less than full capacity,,,

I might mail my old shocks to the Ford CEO .... just to let someone know of the junk they are putting on these $50+k trucks.

I just replaced my factory junk Rancho shocks at 59,000 miles on my 2011 F350 they were trashed.....I put on the rancho 9000 with the my ride controller, I am impressed!

All of my other Super Duty's I have used Bilstein shocks, good shock but wanted to try this my ride set up.....So much nicer ride and no more shimmy on the highway.....

The original rancho shocks say Motorcraft on them......not sure if Rancho even made them

Just found this thread so sorry for the late post. Might want to look at Fox Shocks as well. Just picked up a 2012 F350 and with 250 miles those shocks go on today.

Got Bilstiens for the back at 1k miles. Rancho branded units didnt rebound (at 1K miles) Dont know if that really is a good test either, but I like the ride, no bounce, no bumping, going to put them on the front as now at 5K miles.

I took my truck in for the NOX recall this week and while there I asked them to check the shocks because the ride has gotten progressivly bouncy. I have a fresh set of Rancho 9000XLs ready to put on but I am going to force them to relpace the FX4 OEM crap first under warranty and then immediately change them out myself. Yes, I know they are $5 shocks but at least the bolts won't be as rusted on...

I go to pick up the truck. "We looked at the shocks and they all still look fine". Next time they are going for a ride with me. I am a patient guy so I drove home this time...boing boing boing. Still not totally undriveable but getting worse every day.

I changed out the front (to 5100's) at about 9000 miles but for whatever reason never got to the rears. Lately, (34,000 mi) it was like a pogo stick, so last week I put on a set of 5100's on and man, what a difference. Shouldn't shocks last 60,000 miles?

Rancho Shocks

In talking to my dealer he said the shocks must be leaking to be under warranty. Mine were not but they where shot at 25K. Got new Bilstiens and now the truck is better than when it was new!
