steering pressure switch

steering pressure switch
I did the sag swap, stock the truck comes with a pressure switch in the pressure line. Is there a way to bypass it? What will happen if I don't hook it up? Because I am not being able to find a pressure line that fits the sag with a pressure swicth mounting location.

All the pressure switch does is raise the idle a little to prevent stalling when turning while sitting still.
It "may" throw a code on the KOER portion of the DTC test. It has the part about tuning the steering wheel, pushing the brake pedal etc at certain times during the test. But it would be easy enough to dismiss the code "if" it did set.

Cool.. looks like I'm going to go to the local parts store annd have them make a hose. It will be way easier than bending the ugly e-series pressure line and also 10$ cheaper not to mention look better. I am sure I could figure a way to wire in a resistor to the plug if need be. Would just need to know what ohm and volt to do.

Only certain engine/transmission combinations were fitted with a power steering pressure switch. I've been running without one on my '87 302 for probably close to 10 years now. The only thing I've noticed is that it sets a code, but no check engine light or idle problems. Since it is a switch, you definitely don't want to replace it with a resistor.
