Sitting for years now fuel prob

I have 92 150 i6 was sitting for bought 2 years I bought it changef fuel pump it runs now but if its ice cold it takes starting fluid to fire up? and I can keep it running pumping the gas but it wont idle and if I floor it it chokes out. I was thinking maybe injectors plugged?

did you change the fuel filter?

Also after you change that, check the pressure at the motor.

Kinda sounds to me if it won't start cold that the air temp sensor and/or the water temp sensor might be bad.

Is it flooding? Does it start fine when the engine heats up?

If it was me. I would change the air temp sensor, water temp sensor, and fuel pressure regulator. They are about $15 each, and It will probably take a hour or so to change all three.

The air temp sensor and water temp sensor tell the EEC how cold the engine is, and therefore how much fuel it needs for cold start. The fuel pressure regulator, well regulates the fuel pressure lol, if it goes bad normally it will cause the engine to flood during idle.

Pull the vac. hose off the FPR and see if there is fuel in it. my van had similar symptoms.Yeah they are about 60 bucks. One of those things you want to make sure is bad first, not so tough to replace tho.

Not sure, cuz I haven't had much dealings with the 4.9.

That means you have a fuel problem.
