Parts Truck Questions

I found an 85 parts truck somewhat near me, and it says it has a 300 with a 5 speed. Its 2 wheel drive. Just wondering which tranny would be in it. Thanks!

What model is it? If it is an F150, it is most likely a Mazda M5OD-R2 behind the 300.
If it is an F250/F350 it could be a ZF (IIRC).

Well being a 85 was not offered with a 5 speed, it could be almost anything

Its an F150. Doesnt mean it wasnt messed with. I was thinking about getting it because its reletively rust free.

I got some pics of the truck and this intrigued me. I think it might be an explorer, or other special option. Can anyone id these stripes on the side?

So is this some kind of option, or just someone had extra time on their hands?

1985 Explorer Stripes...

Your Parts truck does not match the Explorer tape stripes above for 1985.

It does look like a Factory stripe, simular in style to some of the earlier Freewheeling packages.

There may be a tape stripe code on the safety certification label. If so that would shed some more light on it.

Thanks Explorer! Is that label inside the driver's door? And to any and all, should I go after this truck?

They are close, to the Explorer stripes in the examples but on your parts truck there are 7 lower stripes and they get narrower as they move up in the stack.

The Explorer stripes on those two examples I posted are all the same size and there are only four of them.

As I said before, if the truck has a tape stripe code, it would shed some more light on what they are.
