2012 F350 Headliner Removal?
All:
Wanted to install a small speaker in my headliner for a work radio. Not quite sure how to take the headliner down in the new truck. I took it to "Car Toys" to see if they would install and the 19 year old kid told me it was a nightmare and that I shouldn't do it. It can't be that hard is it? I searched YouTube.com and the web but couldn't find any instructions or videos. Anybody here know where I can find the info to do this on a newer Super Duty? Thanks in advance.

I just dropped my headliner from the front to install cab lights.
Removed pillar handles, 2 bolts each.
Removed visors, mine have wires for lighted mirrors. Once the mounts were loose I pryed the headliner out of the rubber seal and stuck my hand up in the corners to un-clip the wires. There are small connectors with detents that you need to push in.
I do not have a moon roof but do have the two tray eye glass holder console with the dome light. The plastic console part just pulls straight down, it's held in by tabs. Then you will have a white plastic mount for the dome light with two connectors. This is held in by two screws.
Make sure your seat head rests are up, they will help rest the headliner on when it comes down.
I then used my finger to pop the headliner out of the rubber seals along the roof.
Just becareful, the headliner is formed and can crease if bent.
Do the reverse to reinstall.
Not sure if there is enough room between the headliner and roof for a speaker. Might want to see about installing in the overhead console.

Like others said, it is easy to get the headliner loose. I've done mine a couple of times. BUT, if you have a crew cab you cannot get the headliner out of the truck without removing the rear window. So maybe that is why the kid didn't want to tackle it.
But if you can do the work with the headliner just hanging in there, it is not difficult to take it loose. If the speaker is very small, it probably would fit. I'm thinking like a small two-way radio speaker. You would not be able to put any kind of decent stereo system speaker up there.

Thanks for posting this....gotta admit, I'm a little chicken to do this. Sounds like we have the same interior. When I tugged on the dome light / sunglass holder it didn't budge, I'm afraid to break it. When I unscrewed my visor, I couldn't get the black cable loose (for lighted mirrors) and was afraid of pulling it out. I may try again this weekend....thanks a bunch for the reply.

Thanks for the post. Yeah, it's a crew cab and I only needed it down in the front. It's a really small speaker for a two way radio. Thin and light, about 3in x 4in. Kind of worried about screwing up a new truck so I might find some other way to install this speaker. Thanks to all for the comments and replies. Really appreciate it.
