Rear Bilstein 5100's upside down

My new Bilstein 5100's are upside down on the rear. Anyone else? It's weird because they only go on one way. The bigger hole at the top and the smaller hole at the bottom. Well, the smaller hole happens to be at the top of the boot and the bigger hole is at the bottom of the shock. However, the stickers are right side up with the shocks mounted inverted like this. So if I swap the bushings around I can get the shock mounted right side up but then the sticker will be upside down. Hmmmm.

I just put some 5100s on my truck. I noticed that too. It appears they can only go on one way because of the bushing size and the label orientation. Mine are mounted boots down.

Ok. I appreciate the replies. It was late last night and I couldn't call Bilstein. So anyone out there installing 5100's on your 250/350, it's normal to have them inverted. Boots down!

I read this thread and was prepared to install my 5100s upside down in the rear, but I just put them in and the boot is on the top. On each shock, the larger diameter bushing hole was on the boot end, and the larger diameter bolt is the top one. I wonder why mine is different than all of yours?

I have them boots down on my 2011. They can go either way. They have part numbers for both directions, but I wouldn't let it bother you.

Interesting??? I never knew the 5100's had two different part numbers.

Now...on my SD...I installed Bilsteins...with the boot down, but mine are the Yellow with blue boot. Not the 5100 silver.

This seems to pop up every few weeks.

Bilsteins are normally mounted upside down.

Just on the rear of a superduty right? Because my front are boots up, my brothers titans are boots up, and all of my inlaws toyotas are boots up. My are the silver 5100's. Not sure about the single positive charged 5100 steering stabalizer. It pulls slighty to the left now because of it. Works good on bumps though.

Benny76 --- Not sure if this issue is model year specific or not...but check this link. It has a video of the 5100's being installed by a FTE member. His rear shocks at the 6:46min are not installed boot down. Just a FYI...

I watched his video. His rears are upside down. He went boot up out of habit. You can see the logo upside down on the shocks.

I used part # 24-186018 for the front and part # 24-062466 for the rear. If you want a direct replacement for stock then use part # 24-186025. I prefer the boot mounted down.
