I am only reading up on the F150 EB engine, and note that the max advertised mileage is only 'attainable' by the trucks with the right ratio gears. In the Edge, almost no one is going to try towing much with them and the ads might be right on. I drove a Mazda CX7 with the turbo four and I chickened out at 118mph and climbing--yet, it was getting 25mph when I drove it normally.
Go drive one and see what its like.

I own a ecoboost F150 and love it, I also drive a ecoboost Edge. It was a good drive, quick acceleration. The only reason I did not buy, we specifically wanted a Sport model, and the sport did not come with ecoboost, just a 3.7 v6. Otherwise, I would own a ecoboost edge. Its a good combo, power, economy, great passing gear.

I haven't but are you saying you only get 22 mpg in your 08 edge? I have a 2011 SEL 3.5l Edge and get 26.5-28.5 on our monthly 720 mile round trip that we take. We are loaded about 600+ lbs on this trip. It is rated at 27 hwy so very impressed we are getting good mileage. We drive 3mph over the speed limit but not over 70 most of the time. 75 gets the 26.5 you see and 70 gets 28-28.5. If you are speeding or flooring it from stops, then you are not likely going to get much, if any, better mileage with an ecoboost. The key is stay in the low rpms on the hwy and stay out of boost. Good luck.

Definetly not AWD but it is a 3.5l (v6). Does your sticker say 22 mpg hwy or 25? Also is this 20-22 just hwy or average? I am averaging 21.9 mpg for the last 17k miles. Everyones driving habits are different. I don't beat EPA city avg very often. My truck said 14 mpg city and got 12.5. My edge says 19 mpg and I get 17-17.8. But I get at least sticker (maybe +1) on the hwy. Driving habits and local terrain/trip terrain make a huge difference.
Went ahead and looked it up anyway...your 2008 AWD Edge is rated 22 mpg Hwy. So you are getting good numbers. The 2012 AWD Ecoboost is rated at 28 hwy if you are going back that route. Good luck and let us know how it goes. They have definetly improved these vehicles in the last few years.
