parking lights wont go off
Need help have a 2000 excursion and the parking lights both front and back will not go off when the swith is turned off and the key is out of the truck. Only way they will go off is pulling the battery cable. Pulled the headlight switch, parking light fuse, parking light relay in the power box under hood and lights still on. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

The factory one and we never use it, none of the wiring has been disturbed since we got it 3 years ago. Could you please explain again about checking the switch, I have read alot of your post about this but unsure about the details of checking it and the next steps to follow.
I have noticed that the instrument panel lights are on to. Here is what I have done, disconnected the head light switch lights still on, pulled all the fuses in the block under dash one at a time lights still on, pulled the parking light relay and most of the little fuses in the box on fender well lights still on. Have visual checked switch plug and wires and the wires going to the headlights and no visible sign of burning or melted wires. I have not broke into the wireing bundles yet. What would be your next guess as to where to check. The ford dealer said there is a parking light relay under the dash but I can not find it any idea where its at.

Since you pulled the fuses and they are still on, I doubt the parking light relay would help, doesn't the parking light fuse feed the relay?
Somewhere on the truck, the brown wire is getting power from something that it shouldn't. It's after the headlight switch, since you pulled that and they still came on. I believe now you might have to start unplugging the harness in different spots, and see if they go out. For instance if you unplug the harness to the rear and they go out, you know the problem is toward the rear of the vehicle.

Solid darkbrown. I would suspect a problem underneath the truck before I would under the dash. The first place to suspect is any added wiring for running boards, camper tops, trailer wiring, snowplow lights, etc. After that, I would suspect the wiring along the frame where it can be damaged.
