63 ford f100 steering column choices

Hi new here, Me and my old man picked up a 63 f100 to restore we mostly do classic mustangs but the price was right on this one and its always nice to have a truck for back to the 50s.

Little about the truck. Its a 63 f100 which has been converted with 04 police interceptor. The whole front suspension was swapped into the truck along with the 4.6. and rear end. We got seats out of a new Lexus suv full power ect.

Problem: when he welded in the new rack and front suspension it changed the angle of which the steering wheel needed to be installed. So right now it has a solid shaft similar to a dirt track car with a removable steering wheel. So with that the steering wheel is down lower and makes it awkward to get in the truck and is just not a good placement. But it has to be at this angle to meet up with the rack from the interceptor front end. We want to do a tilt column to fix this. Were wondering what column would work best? We dont mind cutting into the dash and fabing brackets but as you know u cant cut to far into the dash otherwise you will get into the gauges. We were thinking of using a 80s to 90s f150 column with tilt. But im sure this conversion has been done and someone already knows the best column to use. I would be nice to find a column that works with the ignition box of the interceptor motor you know the little plastic box the you push the metal shaft forward to go key on then push and hold to start. Im sure we can do away with the box and cut into the wires to make it able to use just the key on the dash but i havent gotten that far yet.

So what does everyone else use for a column?

Any help is great pictures would also be sweet.

Thanks

You can modify the dash pedal mount and bring the column you have out the firewall.

Here is a 65 66 column but the 63 can do the same basic thing.

Here is the shaft and joints to the Dakota rack yours should be in a similar location.

And here is the modifications to the pedal bracket.

This may give you some ideas on how to make it work.
