Rblomquist,
Order up what you want...you will be happy that you did. See if you can get your hands on an x-plan pin. That will get you a wholesale price. And the dealer will also apply the current rebates.

When I purchased my truck, with the xplan, they required a paycheck stub with my name on it to match the company who's xplan I was using. In other words, you have to be employed by the company that has the xplan. Maybe some dealers will let it slide.

If you are able to use the xplan, it is a great deal. I paid only $88 over invoice (before rebates were applied). GM's company purchase plan is a joke, but its also not restricted to just employees....they can be shared with friends/family.

The company that I work for is a Ford partner, so I logged in to the site and it generated a Pin number. I took that to the dealer.

I've read in this forum that there are two other ways to get x-plan pricing. Owning Ford stock is one. The other is if you sign up for free and join a group that has x-plan benefits. If you search for a few minutes you might find it. Also, I think that silverbullet2000 (Matt) used this plan.

I went from a 2005 6.0 F350CC LB to a 2011 6.2 F250 CC SB
I will not go back to Diesel

Fuel cost more
Maintenance is more
Not worth it

Got a F-250 4X4 CC 6ft box 2011 6.2. Got rid of an F-250 4X4 CC 6ft box 2003 6.0 Diesel. That was in August 2010 , had 120,000 on the diesel but a lot of repairs and maintance cost. Fuel cost was a factor also. The 6.2 has 21000 miles on it and has towed a 30ft travel trailer last summer and other than the difference in torque the 6.2 was good on mileage and performance. Never go back so sad because thats what the gov't wants so the keep regulating the diesel so they can make it impossible to own and priced out of reach.

Hi all. Brand new to the forum. Reading for days now. Lots of good info. I am looking to move from my 2000 F250 v10 2wd crew cab to 6.2 gasser.

BIG QUESTION. There are hardly any dealers that have F250 6.2 in stock. They only have diesels. Why is this? I have asked and they shrug their shoulders. Are the gassers more popular and they can't keep them in stock? Or are they not as popular so they don't order that many?

I am going to order just what I want anyway so not concerned from that repect. Just really wondering the reason for this.

Welcome to FTE.

The dealer I purchased my truck from has a pretty significant line up of SD's, all but 2 were diesels and they were XLT models with the 3.73 gears. All the Lariat/KR's were diesels. The gassers are definitely NOT more popular than the diesels in the SD's, can't remember the exact numbers but the % of diesel sales over gassers in the SD lineup was pretty significant. I never got an answer out of them why but I wasn't concerned, I knew what I was after and they didn't have any problems ordering it for me. I wonder if it's a niche market, kinda like how it was when the manuals were still around...

I came from a 2000 V10 as well. I miss it at times but the new 6 spd trans is niiiiiiice.

Might be because the Diesel are so much higher priced.

that's an interesting observation, my local dealer usually has 8-10 SD's on the lot and usually not more than 2-3 diesels....where are you located?

I am in Tampa but the dealer did a search and there wasn't a gas F250 within 3 states. Then I was in Dubuque Iowa and that dealer said they never have them. I am flying to boulder now so will see what if I'd like out that way.

This has been very good information here. It is time to update my 2006 F350 6.0L. I just ordered a F350 lariat crew cab LB with the 6.2 and 4.30 gears. Now I have to sit and wait 6-8 weeks for it to show up. Most of my recreational towing will be either an enclosed snowmobile trailer that can be 8000 lbs, or my 5th wheel camper with the boat behind that would be about 12000 lbs. This should be a breeze, but for work I have a gooseneck trailer with a skidsteer and attachments that can weigh 18,000-20,000 lbs. That will be the real test. I only pull it within a 30 mile radius from work and not everyday either so if it takes a little longer to get up to speed compared to my 6.0, then so be it. I get 8-10 mpg towing, 10-12 mpg everyday driving empty, and 16 mpg running down the highway. Right now diesel is $.60 more than gas, but usually it is .$90 more so I think I made the right move.

That is good to hear Byram. My only problem now is figuring how to hook up my 5th wheel. I ordered it with the gooseneck kit, but refused to pay the $1600 for a plain old 5th wheel hitch. I had thought I would use a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter, but it doesn't sound like a good idea from what I have read. Maybe I can buy the foot adapter for the Reese signature hitch and mount my bed rails to that so my Pro series hitch will mount to the Ford set up.

What is supposed to be bad about about the 5th wheel to goose neck adapter?I dont have one but my buddy has one on his toy hauler and liked it and never had a problem.Iwas just wondering cause if i trade my travel trailer for a fifth wheel i was gonna get the goose attch for the camper.
