Auto Meter Oil Temp Gauge

So, a friend of mine gave me an Oil Temperature gauge that his dad used in his truck. His truck had a 460 in it.
I'm unsure if the fitting that's supposed to go into the block is the right size, and I don't know where it installs in the block. I also don't know where to wire it into. It has 1 white wire hanging out the back of it.
I really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Is this a gauge or a sender? Sounds like you mean sender. Sender gets wired to gauge. I am unsure of block location.

That's what I was thinking. Any idea what to wire it into?

Running light circuit.

Guess I should have been more clear, running light was way to general I see now. You'd want the Lt blue-red wire up under the dash, you'd want it wired into the dash lighting circuit as so its light would work with the dimmer function same as everything else.
