I have a reg cab 2wd f-250 work truck with a 5.4l. The truck is all stock and leads a pretty easy life in a plant.

I took the truck out on the highway and got on it a bit and the engine was pinging under acceleration.

It still ran great. The truck has no obious issues, and no CEL.


Anything common that could case this?

Dirty injectors maybe? Wouldnt this engine have a knock sensor?

 

When I went out west this summer my 03 was pinging under hard pulls when I got back in minnesota it stopped, I think it is the crappy fuel that some stations sell...
