6.0 hpop problem ?
o.k. anybody have some insight that may help ?for the last few months my 350 has had some starting difficulty.truck would fire and die 2 or 3 times then start and run great.i've been thinking fuel filter clogged so changed filter no help.couldn't seem to find any other issues sucky life crap got in the way.now took a trip about 50 miles south last night and on my return trip truck lost all power wouldnt shift or accelerate.kept running for about 15 or 20 min. finally quit all temp readings, boost readings seemed fine.when truck quit programmer was displaying 4 code warning.codes were as follows2290 injector control pressure to low
p2291 injector control pressure to low engine cranking
p2614cam shaft position signal output circuit open
p2617crank position signal output circuit open
i think its all pointing to hpop failure but i'm no mechanic so experience is always king imo.so if anybody is a pro tech or has dealt with this prob. before your opinion would be much appreciated.I'm on about round 20 of life beatdown so getting my 350 back would be a real blessing so i thank you all for any advice that can help.

ok you came toright place lots of helpful folks here
Does look like HPO problems because of firrst 2 codes
The other 2 codes for cam & crank sensor code are from the stall event dont worrey about those 2
you can try and unplug ICP sensor to see if it starts if it does start when unplugged you will need an ICP sensor
do you have any gauges that would monitor ICP & IPR%
and other than that Need more info like year and last oil change and what kinda oil filter and Cap are you running and Any Recent work even little things

blade 35 thanks for response i'm at about 3-5k since last oil change and i did as all suggested and stayed away from fram.i used motorcraft filters and oil.that was the last work done.about 2 months prior to that i had surging and bucking issue that was ipc sensor(yes the one under the turbo-fun)but all except described starting issue has been exceptionally good otherwise.oh yeah 4inch turbo back mbpr exhaust right after ipc and never threw a code.

2003 engines do tend to fail high pressure oil pumps. The symptoms you describe point squarely to a failed high pressure oil pump. Unfortunately 2003 models are a royal pain to air test the high pressure oil system on. Like posted above, you need to have access to a scan tool that can read live data to monitor ICP psi, ICP volts, ICP desired, IPR duty cycle and RPM to diagnose your issue. An engine at operating temperature (ECT @ 190*F approximately) SHOULD have readings of ICP psi and desired at about 620 psi and IPR duty cycle between 21 to 23% while idling in PARK or NEUTRAL for a 2003.

m-chan68 thanks for the great diagnosing info i'll have to see if i can locate that type of scanning tool if i cant then i'll be looking for a good diesel tech to drop it off to.fortunately i live about 10 min. from xdp diesels main office and store so i'll be getting tech references from them.wow i just figured out something good about jersey!thats a first...

chev69, not a pro by no means but try looking at your IPR valve. the one under the turbo. look at the screen, is it clean? If not try removing the screen and cleaning it, reinstall and try to start. If no start I think I have read somewhere about how to bench test the valve, just to see if it is opening and closing. If the screen is dirty then you need to see the screen under the oil cooler, chances are it is dirty,or broken letting junk get to your IPR and beyond.
